Joel is the lead web designer and a project manager for William & Mary. He is passionate about great design, vibrant photographs and an elegant user experience. Joel possesses a love and deep understanding of technology — one that comes from working in Information Technology for the last nine years.

Joel was a key member of the team charged with reinventing William & Mary's web presence in 2008. He was deeply involved with many aspects of the project, including strategic planning, design selection, technical implementation, and communication.

As an extension of that effort, Joel supported the transition of hundreds of academic and administrative websites into the new design suite and content management system. Every W&M site now uses the same tools and visual design — creating a powerful, fully integrated university web presence.

In addition to his experience with educational websites, Joel has created dozens of sites on a freelance basis. His clients range from a local costume jeweler to a Virginia State Senator. When he's not working, you might find him camping on the shores of North Carolina, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or reading a book on his living room sofa.
